From World-Bringing to Participatory Repair
This Project Hub gathers the materials for Life-Coherent Civilization: From World-Bringing to Participatory Repair.
Original project post: Life-Coherent Civilization: From World-Bringing to Participatory Repair
This work functions as one of the central vessels of the Life-Knowledge Commons. It asks how civilization can be reordered so that knowledge, economy, medicine, education, law, governance, technology, and culture return to their proper place: instruments in service of life, not masters over life.
The guiding question is:
What must be protected, restored, or redesigned so that civilization becomes capable of remaining in repair?
Why This Project Matters
Modern civilization has developed extraordinary powers of measurement, production, communication, finance, medicine, law, technology, and governance.
Yet these powers do not automatically make life more livable.
When money, growth, institutional survival, technological acceleration, geopolitical power, legal procedure, or abstract metrics become ends in themselves, life is reorganized to serve its own instruments.
This is the great inversion.
The Life-Coherent Civilization project asks how this inversion can be seen, named, and repaired.
The Core Claim
Human beings do not simply inhabit worlds.
We participate in bringing them forth through distinctions, language, emotion, habit, institution, technology, economy, law, education, and governance.
But world-bringing alone is not enough.
A world can be coherent in its own terms and still be destructive.
The deeper question is:
Does the world we are bringing forth enable life-capacity, or does it disable life while appearing normal, efficient, profitable, lawful, powerful, or inevitable?
The Foundational Triad
This project brings together three foundational streams.
Humberto Maturana: World-Bringing
Maturana helps us see that living beings bring forth worlds through their distinctions, relations, emotioning, languaging, and coordinations of action.
The question becomes:
What world is being brought forth?
John McMurtry: Life-Value
McMurtry helps us see that value is grounded in life-capacity, not money-value.
The question becomes:
Does this world enable life, or does it sacrifice life to a life-blind value system?
Johan Galtung: Anti-Violence
Galtung helps us see that violence is not only direct harm, but also structural and cultural arrangements that disable life-capacity and normalize suffering.
The question becomes:
Where is avoidable life-disablement being normalized?
Together, these three streams form a civilizational diagnostic:
World-bringing.
Life-value.
Anti-violence.
The Life-Coherent Vessel
The central constructive image of this project is the life-coherent vessel.
A vessel is not a rigid blueprint.
It is a holding architecture.
It helps a society ask whether its ways of knowing, valuing, organizing, producing, educating, healing, governing, deciding, and repairing remain answerable to the living ground.
A life-coherent vessel asks:
What distinctions are bringing this world forth?
What life-capacities are being enabled or disabled?
What civil commons are being protected or weakened?
What structural or cultural violence is being normalized?
What feedback from life is being ignored?
Who must participate in repair?
What institutions must be redesigned so that life can remain livable?
Practical Movement
The project culminates in practical tools of repair:
The Life-Coherent Field Cycle
A cycle for moving from seeing life-disablement to naming the field, convening affected knowers, designing minimum sufficient repair, acting, listening, and learning.
The Life-Coherence Dashboard
A way to track whether life-ground, life-needs, life-capacity, civil commons, care, provisioning, justice, participation, feedback, and future generations are strengthening or weakening.
Transition Pathways
Ways for existing institutions to move from inversion toward life-coherent practice by changing questions, measures, budgets, mandates, professional formation, participation, institutional culture, and public imagination.

How This Project Connects to the Commons
This project connects directly to the main pathways of the Life-Knowledge Commons:
The Life-Coherent Framework — the core grammar.
Health & Healing — the body and health system as living fields.
Economy & Progress — money-value, life-value, and provisioning.
Peace & Repair — structural violence, cultural violence, and legitimate coexistence.
Wisdom & World-Bringing — distinctions, emotioning, meaning, and metanoia.
Caribbean / SIDS Lab — place-based application under real constraint.
Tools for Life-Coherent Repair — practical instruments for diagnosis and repair.
Library — the deeper archive of related materials.
Suggested Pathway
For a gentle entry, proceed in this order:
- Read this Project Hub.
- Read the Executive Summary.
- Watch or listen to one explainer.
- Open the full Academic White Paper only when ready.
- Return to the Tools page to ask how the framework can be applied.
No one needs to enter the whole project at once.

Working Questions
Use this project to ask:
What world are we bringing forth?
What is being conserved?
What life-capacities are expanding?
What life-capacities are being sacrificed?
What instruments have become ends in themselves?
What civil commons are being weakened?
What structural or cultural violence is being normalized?
Who is excluded from naming the field?
What would participatory repair require?
What would make civilization capable of remaining in repair?
Invitation
Life-Coherent Civilization is not a final answer.
It is a vessel for asking better questions.
It invites a shift from domination to repair, from abstraction to life-ground, from money-value to life-value, from forced order to legitimate coexistence, and from civilizational drift to participatory correction.
The central question remains:
What must be protected, restored, or redesigned so that life can remain livable?
